CAO DAI TEMPLE AND CU CHI TUNNELS
Trip code: VSC2
Starting at 8 am from your hotel, you will be transferred in our air-con mini-van to Tay Ninh, North West of Ho Chi Minh city. It is a rough road, however, the scenery along the way is magnificent. We arrive at Cao Dai temple about 11.30 am, enough time to refresh and to take photos outside the temple before we attend the ceremony at 12.00.
Established in 1926 by Mr. Ngo Van Chieu, the term Cao Dai literally means “high place” and the full name is Dai Dao Tam Ky Pho Do (Great Religion of The Third Period of Revelation and Salvation). It is a mix of Christian, Buddhism, Hindu etc. Strangely, they even worship Victor Hugo.
We will stop for lunch in a local restaurant before we head to Cu Chi tunnel. During the Vietnam War, Cu Chi tunnels played a vital part providing Viet Cong full control of the area up to 30 or 40 km away from Sai Gon (former name of Ho Chi Minh City). The remaining tunnels today will give you a unique experience and feeling of what underground life during American war was like. It is advisable to bring a torch and to change into your new clothes for the day if you go down one of tunnels.
We will bring you back to town in the late afternoon.
