CU CHI TUNNEL AND MEKONG DELTA
Trip code: VSC3
Starting earlier than usual (7.00 am), our guide will take you first to Cu Chi tunnels. During the Vietnam War, both sides called it “iron land” as it received 100 kilos of bomb for every square meter. With distinctive architecture, this cobweb-like complex is a network underground dig outs over 250 kilometers long, consisting of many layers and tunnels with meeting, living and fighting quarters underground.
There, you will firstly join the documentary movie before we take a walk around to see the real tunnels. Apart from that system, there were a wide range of traps (we cleared them all out already) that you can see only see some of them nowadays. Walking through a former forest, you still can hear the sounds of gun fire from the firing range nearby where, if you want to try, the cost is 1.5 US dollar per bullet. You will spend about 2 hours then we take another bus ride to My Tho.
Arriving in My Tho around lunch time, we board our private boat to one of the islands (Dragon, phoenix, Turtle and Unicorn) where you enjoy the local specialties such as “elephant ear” fish, rice pancake etc. The day activities here include rowing along canals in a sampan, visiting local industries, trying tropical fruit and honey tea, listening to traditional music. A long and tiring day, however, it is interesting and culturally enlightening.
Our guide will take you back to Ho Chi Minh City in the evening.
