We come back to Sai Gon by lunch time to explore more interesting sights including the Unification Palace and War Remnants Museum.

Day 3 - 4: Mekong Delta

Arriving in Cai Be, south of Ho Chi Minh City after a 3 hour bus ride, on day 3, we board our boat to cross the Upper Mekong River and do some explorations of this important water way. Life there really depends on the river. We have a chance to try the locally grown tropical fruits before continuing on to visit the cottage industries like brick kilns and roof tiles. After lunch, we use the sampans to go through small canals to see bonsai gardens before stopping at our homestay. The dinner tonight will be a real treat when we’ll try the Delta specialties. We also have a little chat with Mr. Muoi, the house owner, to have more understanding of local life then drop down the mosquito nets for the night. Getting up early with the sound of birds singing and boats running up and down the river, we have a simple breakfast then off to the famous Cai Be floating market. Here you can observe the lively selling and buying activities of river people. We get off the boat to see the household business making rice paper, fish sauce, coconut candy … We re-board our bus to go back to Ho Chi Minh City for the night.
